The Time Has Come....

Hellllo world! Believe it or not, I’ve done A TON of projects during COVID. I mean, I was stuck at home so of course I spent lots of time thinking about projects I could do. And which project was a must? Well actually, there were a lot. I shiplapped the stairs, built some beams, stoned a fireplace, redid my closet. Sheesh. There is so much I need to catch you guys up on!

But let’s start with the project happening NOW - our bathroom. I have absolutely hated our bathroom since the first time I walked into our home. I will never forget my hubs’ first time in the bathroom. He looked at me and asked “you are redoing this, aren’t you?” He knows me, but even if he didn’t wouldn’t you redo this room?

I mean, let’s be honest - it is absolutely textbook builder basic.

So, after 2 years of not loving the space I decided, let’s do it! I called my friends at Perfect Floors here in Austin to see if they could work their magic. And boy have they! They showed up on Tuesday of this week (today is Saturday) and look what they’ve done!

It’s already sooooooo much better! They started with the floors and the shower but I can’t give it ALL away yet! I can talk about what has happened so far.

I can’t figure out what the point of this wall was.

A double wall for no reason??

  1. We ripped out the original vanities. I found someone in my neighborhood who wanted them so they went to a good home.

  2. We got rid of the pony wall between the tub and shower as well as the weird half wall between the vanities and the shower. Check this out: I noticed pretty soon after we moved in that the shower wall was shorter than the vanity wall. I figured there must be pvc or something to account for this. Guess what? There wasn’t! Winning because I gained 6 inches in the shower! And that weird wall between the vanity and shower? Nothing in there either. More space gained!

  3. We had the tile demoed in the bathroom and carpet removed in the closet.

  4. We had tons of plumbing moved around (including the drain for the new freestanding tub).

  5. All that nasty framed glass is GONE!

That’s it for now! The guys will be back Monday to finish up the tile. The vanities, lights, tub and fixtures should be here next week and… the wallpaper! Stay tuned for more!
